One-Day Personnel With Designated Security Duties

(Includes Security Awareness)

Course Description

This course will meet the STCW training requirements for Personnel With Designated Security Duties PDSD (Vessel and Facility). The course also meets the requirements for Security Awareness (SA). This course is in compliance with the following standards set forth by the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code and IMO Vessel/Company/Port Facility:

Regulations 13.3 (Part A /B)
Regulations 18.2 (Part A /B)
Training is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard

Who Needs PDSD and SA Training?

The following Vessel and Facility categories require Personnel With Security Duties with certified training Per 33 CFR 104.220, 105.210 and ISPS Code 13.3* Security Awareness training is required for All Other Vessel and Facility Personnel Per 33 CFR 104.225, 105.215 and ISPS Code 13.4*

  • Passenger vessels carrying over 12 passengers on an international voyage
  • SOLAS passenger vessels
  • Companies that operate the above vessels
  • Ports-Facilities that serve the above vessels

This 1 day course meets the IMO STCW training requirements for:

  • Personnel with Designated Security Duties-Vessel/Ship and Facility/Port (VPDSD & FPDSD)
  • Course completion also meets the requirment for Security Awareness (SA)
  • Approved by the U.S. Coast Guard
  • Course is in compliance with the following standards:
  • Regulations 13.3 Parts (Part A & B), and 18.2 (Part A&B), of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code
  • MTSA Model Course 04-01 Maritime Security for Vessel Personnel with specific Security Duties, MTSA Model Course 04-02 Maritime Security for Facility Personnel with Spacific Security Duties

Personnel With Designated Security Duties

To qualify for a PDSD or SA endorsement, a person must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be able to speak and understand the English language as would be relevant to the duties of PDSD or SA
  • Hold a valid TWIC card
