Florida Boat Safe by “The Captain School”


·    Do you want to be more confident when you take your boat out on the water?

·    Do you or one of your family members need a Florida Boater Education Card?


If you answered yes to any of the above questions the Captain School can help. We are now offering an 8-hour basic boating course titled Florida Boat Safe. The course will provide you with all of the basic boating knowledge to help you pass the Florida Boater Education exam. Additionally, your instructor will provide you with information such as:

-      Identifying aids to navigation such as day markers and buoys and what they mean

-      Basic Rules of the Road

-      Understanding weather and its effect on the sea and your boat

-      Regulations governing boating safety equipment

-      Chart reading basics

-      GPS basics

-      VHF radio operations

-      Leaving the pier, docking and loading/unloading your boat

-      How to plan a voyage

-      Tides and currents

-      Anchoring your boat and much much more

Who needs a Florida Boater Education Card? You need the card if you were born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, and will be operating a motorized boat of 10 hp or more in Florida.There is no minimum age requirement to take this course.You do not have to be a resident of Florida and do not need a driver’s license.
